Fabulous, rustic mountain chalet with a Finnish sauna, at 1600 metres on a quiet stand-alone location, with a wonderful view of the foothills of the High Tauern
This fabulous chalet with an original Finnish sauna stands at an altitude of 1600 metres. It is around 150 years old and was fully renovated in 2014. The absolutely quiet stand-alone location with a wonderful view of the Kareck and the foothills of the High Tauern at the end of a forest trail about 7km long in a pristine natural landscape ensures complete peace and quiet.
The mountain chalet of around 100m² is suitable for two to eight people. The ground floor has a lounge with a kitchen unit, a relaxation lounger and satellite TV. There is a wood-fired stove with an oven for cooking, as well as an Italian espresso pot and a fridge. The dining table with a comfortable corner bench can seat up to ten people for sociable evenings. On the ground floor there is also a bedroom with a double bed, featuring arolla pine wood. The tastefully fitted bathroom with a shower and sauna, as well as the separate toilet, give the chalet the flair of a wellness oasis. The first floor comprises two further bedrooms, each with a double bed, and a further double bed in one of the rooms. All the beds measure 180 x 200cm (two mattresses 90cm wide per double bed). A wood-fired stove in the lounge exudes cosy warmth, also providing central heating. A photovoltaic system provides enough everyday electricity. A cool cellar, accessed through a trapdoor in the hallway, is ideal for cooling drinks.
The entrance area with a wardrobe leads to the way out to the roofed terrace with a table and two wooden benches for several people. From here you can enjoy the wonderful view into the distance of a unique mountain world. In addition, there are a grill area and a fountain in front of the chalet, to complete the romantic image.
This mountain chalet is for self-catering and is accessed by car along a forest track that is not asphalted. You need to bring you own bed linen, tea towels, towels etc.
The nearest locality is Zedernhaus. It is about 11km from the chalet and also has a little general shop. The nearest larger town is St. Michael im Lungau, where you can find a supermarket. If you fancy some exercise and not only relaxation and leisure, you can enjoy hiking and mountain climbing.
